Chelsea will not reignite their interest in Victor Osimhen despite a general willingness to add a forward this month, according to a report.

The Blues heavily pushed for the signing of the Nigerian superstar in the summer after a deal to acquire Samu Omorodion collapsed at the 11th hour, but no agreement with Osimhen could ultimately be reached.

Negotiations had dragged on long into the night on Deadline Day, yet the 26-year-old reportedly refused to lower his financial demands and he ended up staying at Napoli when all the big European windows slammed shut.

Galatasaray had to come to his rescue, taking him on loan for the season, and Osimhen is loving life in Istanbul. A fan favourite, the striker has netted 13 goals in 16 appearances while providing five assists.

He has publically insisted that, despite a January break clause, he will see out the season with Galatasaray, but that has not stopped transfer speculation surrounding a winter move.

Chelsea not keen on Osimhen

Osimhen has been linked with Man Utd and PSG in recent weeks, while Chelsea have also remained in the mix given their summer interest. However, according to Ben Jacobs, the Blues actually have no intention of moving for the Nigerian this month.

The Blues are generally open to adding another attacker, especially since Mykhailo Mudryk could be set for a lengthy ban following his provisional doping suspension, but it is unlikely that Osimhen will be given much thought.

Oismhen’s wage demands have not changed and this is a problem for the Stamford Bridge outfit, whose new transfer policy requires every fresh signing to fit into their incentive-driven salary structure.

Chelsea also don’t feel the need to force a new acquisition at centre-forward unless Christopher Nkunku were to start actively agitating for a transfer away. Jacobs describes the club’s confidence in starting No.9 Nicolas Jackson as ‘unwavering.’
