Kylian Mbappe’s salary at Real Madrid has been revealed, with the France star scooping an incredible wage that is the equivalent to the same as three ‘normal’ stars at the Bernabeu.

Mbappe joined Los Blancos on a free transfer from PSG in the summer, and though Carlo Ancelotti’s side did not pay a fee for the 25-year-old, they did spend lavishly on the player’s bonuses.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, will continue to pay out on the striker via his wages – which are astronomical even for the standards of the Bernabeu club.

Journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, who works with RadioMarca, reports that Mbappe’s salary at Real Madrid matches the deal he was on at PSG and that he is earning €36 million per year, including bonuses.

This makes him the club’s leading earner, scooping far more than David Alaba, who earns €22.5m.

Mbappe’s Real Madrid wage in context

Real Madrid can afford to pay Mbappe so richly thanks to the retirement of Toni Kroos, who was earning €20m per year. In addition, the departures of Joselu, €2m per year, and Nacho Fernandez, €10m per year, have helped to facilitate Madrid’s massive spend on the Bondy-born attacker.

Inevitably, there has been a fallout. Both Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham are set to have their contracts re-evaluated.

Real Madrid are known to be pushing for Vini Jr to sign a new deal, yet he has so far resisted this possibility, with a blockbuster deal from the Saudi Pro League thought to be on the cards for the Brazil star.

Of course, Mbappe’s lavish pay would not be such an issue had he hit the ground running at the Bernabeu. Despite a decent goal return, though, there is a sense that he is not pulling his weight in the team, with Lucas Vazquez appearing to target him when he said that everyone must defend following the Champions League loss to AC Milan.

On top of his struggles at Madrid, Mbappe has also been dropped by France, with national team boss Didier Deschamps simply saying: “It’s better this way.”
