Confirmed Lineups: SC Freiburg vs. Basel

Julian Schuster confirmed his starting lineup for his first European fixture as a manager.

Julian Schuster’s SC Freiburg will start their European adventure at home to Swiss champions Basel. Freiburg won back-to-back games in the Bundesliga following two defeats at the start of the season.

Schuster picks a strong side for their first of eight games in the league phase of the Europa League. The captain Christian Günter is back in the starting XI, while Anthony Jung replaces Philipp Lienhart at the heart of Freiburg’s defense. Junior Adamu will lead the attacking line in place of Lucas Höler.

As for the visitors, former Bayern winger Xherdan Shaqiri already has ten direct goal involvements in as many matches. A Bundesliga winner with Bremen and Stuttgart, Ludovic Magnin replaced Fabio Celestini as Basel’s coach this summer.
