CONFIRMED: Man Utd make new €30m bid for Patrick Dorgu

Manchester United have tabled a new formal offer for Lecce star Patrick Dorgu.

The Red Devils have stepped up their pursuit of the versatile Denmark international in recent days as they seek reinforcements for both the left wing-back position and the wing, amid interest in players such as Antony, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.

Dorgu has been identified as an ideal option as he can cover both positions. A left-back by trade, Dorgu has played primarily as a right-winger for Serie A side Lecce this season.

Earlier this week, Man Utd formally opened talks with the relegation-battlers and tabled a €27 million offer for the 20-year-old. However, Lecce rejected the bid as they maintain that they will not sell for less than €40m, the same price tag that they slapped on him in the summer.

Not to be deterred, Man Utd have now made an improved offer.

Man Utd make new Dorgu bid

According to The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd have submitted a fresh bid for Dorgu that clocks in at around €30m and which is still some way short of Lecce’s valuation.

Earlier on Friday, Ben Jacobs reported that Man Utd’s new offer would actually be north of €30m and that the gap in valuation between the two clubs would therefore be reduced to just €5m.

Dorgu has previously been described as being keen on the move and Man Utd are hopeful of striking a deal. Director of negotiations Matt Hargreaves has personally flown to Milan to negotiate the transfer.

It is unclear if this proposal will be enough to get Lecce to soften their stance. The Serie A side are keen to keep hold of Dorgu until the summer in their bid to avoid relegation.

Man Utd would like to add Dorgu immediately as head coach Ruben Amorim is desperate for reinforcements. Napoli are also believed to be in the mix and they are willing to offer a potentially more attractive package that would see the Dane remain with Lecce until the end of the season.
