The Red Devils have failed to land a major signing on the final day of the winter transfer window, with fans telling Ruben Amorim that they would understand if he quit the club over the board’s failure to land him any new faces to add to his squad.

Indeed, the Red Devils are set to see their numbers cut further following the completion of Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tyrell Malacia is closing in on a move to PSV, VI reports, with the 25-year-old left-back, who has endured an injury-hit spell with the Premier League side, jetting across to the Netherlands to complete a deal.

PSV are set to snap him up on a loan deal, although there is no particular rush on the part of the Eredivisie side, with the Dutch transfer window not shutting until Tuesday. Malacia is heading to Eindhoven for the next six months “providing nothing crazy happens”.

Third time lucky for Malacia

Malacia was previously close to moving to Benfica last week only for the deal to collapse at the last moment. The defender had even jetted to Portugal before Man Utd decided that the deal would be pulled.

He was also close to moving to Serie A earlier in the January transfer window.

Malacia, though, was eager to play regular first-team football in the second half of the season and seems likely to get that opportunity in the Netherlands.

The 25-year-old was signed by Man Utd in the summer of 2022 from Feyenoord for €15 million but has managed only 47 appearances for the club.

Under contract until 2026, Malacia’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €16.7m.
