Rangers have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ to sign PSG youngster Oumar Camara, according to French media.

The Gers’ summer planning recently suffered a setback when their top candidate for the still-vacant coaching job, David Ancelotti, decided to reject the chance of managing at Ibrox next season.

Rangers have been without a permanent head coach since Philippe Clement was dismissed in February, and the 55-time Scottish champions are now forced to consider other options such as Steven Gerrard, Russell Martin and Marco Rose.

Despite the uncertainty over the coaching position – with club legend Barry Ferguson having had to step in in the interim – Rangers are busy on the transfer front.

After reaching a pre-agreement to sign Dundee star Lyall Cameron in February, Rangers have now struck a deal for their second summer reinforcement.

Rangers sign PSG captain

According to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Rangers have secured an ‘agreement in principle’ to sign PSG U19 captain Oumar Camara, who has notched seven goals and four assists in the French U19 league this season.

The 18-year-old is out of contract this summer and has agreed to make the move to Glasgow, Hawkins reports. A right winger by trade, Camara will sign a ‘long-term’ contract with the Ibrox outfit.

Hawkins adds that Rangers managed to make a more convincing pitch to Camara than PSG, who had offered him a professional deal in a bid to keep him.

PSG, in line with their new strategy of integrating French prospects into the first team, are trying to keep their most talented academy prospects, but some like Camara and teammate Axel Tape – chased by Leverkusen and Chelsea – feel that the chances of playing time are better elsewhere.
