Coupe de France: Lyon, RCSA, Nice progress

Olympique Lyonnais 2-1 LOSC Lille

Despite resting the likes of the in-form Alexandre Lacazette and Ernest Nuamah, the hosts saw out what would be their seventh win in nine matches in all competitions. Pierre Sage handed a first start to winter signing Orel Mangala, and the Belgian impressed in midfield. Lucas Perri, Malick Fofana and Gift Orban were all also in the eleven, and the Nigerian netted his first goal for Lyon as he and Rayan Cherki scored either side of halftime to help Les Gones advance.

RC Strasbourg Alsace 3-1 AC Le Havre

The hosts came into this match facing a bit of an injury crisis in attack, with all of Kévin Gameiro, Lebo Mothiba, Moïse Sahi Dion and Jérémy Sébas unavailable. It scarcely seemed to matter for Patrick Vieira’s side, though, as they shook off a loss to Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend to cruise to a comfortable win thanks to goals from Dilane Bakwa, Marvin Senaya and the returning Emanuel Emegha.

Montpellier HSC 1-4 OGC Nice

Both sides put out strong sides at the Stade de la Mosson, but Nice’s win reflected their greater organization and strength in depth as they had goals from four different players, including the little-used Tom Louchet and Alexis Claude-Maurice. Les Aiglons scored three goals in a ten-minute flurry in the first half, and it was all the hosts could do to record a late consolation through Modibo Sagnan.
