Coupe de France: Rennes Cruise to Win Over Sochaux

Rennes’ good form under manager Julien Stéphan was on display in the first 45 minutes, with four goals in the first half. Amine Gouiri began the scoring with a spectacular goal from outside the box, setting the stage for Rennes’ dominant display.

Ibrahim Salah added the second goal, but the most impressive performance came from Arnaud Kalimuendo.

The 22-year-old registered a brace in less than 10 minutes to score Rennes’ third and fourth goals of the contest. Rennes had 12 shots in total during the first half, eight of which reached the target.

Rennes’ scoring continued into the second half, with Gouiri completing his brace in the 47th minute, tallying the fifth goal of the match for Les Rouge et Noirs. Sochaux scored on a penalty kick to make it 5-1 and prevent themselves from being held scoreless in the game.

During the latter portion of the second half, Rennes scored their sixth goal of the match, thanks to Benjamin Bourigeaud, who had already provided an assist earlier in the game.

With their spot secured in the Coupe de France quarterfinals, Rennes will focus on their upcoming encounter against Le Havre this Sunday. Following that match, Stéphan and his team will journey to San Siro for the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off round against AC Milan on Thursday.
