Cristiano Ronaldo has reached a ‘full agreement’ with Al-Nassr over a new contract, according to a report.

The Portuguese legend will stay with his current Saudi club after all. Despite his cryptic social media post, in which he announced the closure of a ‘chapter,’ it seems that Ronaldo will stay at Al-Nassr.

According to Foot Mercato, the 40-year-old has reached a ‘full agreement’ on fresh terms with the Riyadh giants. The outlet states that Saudi sources go so far as to claim that Ronaldo has already put pen to paper on his new contract.

Ronaldo will therefore remain an Al-Nassr player beyond this summer and, crucially, not participate in the Club World Cup, going against the express wish of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

In a recent interview, Infantino had hinted at a potential transfer of Ronaldo to a side competing at this summer’s tournament in the US. This, in conjunction with Ronaldo’s cryptic message after Al-Nassr’s final game of the season, sent the transfer rumour mill into a frenzy.

Ronaldo snubs Al-Hilal

The veteran attacker began being linked with a host of clubs. Brazilian side Botafogo and Wydad Casablanca were two clubs heavily associated with a move for CR7.

The most intriguing link, however, was probably with Al-Nassr’s city rivals Al-Hilal, who reportedly presented Ronaldo with a contract offer. Unlike Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal will compete at the Club World Cup this summer.

Al-Hilal have been significantly more successful than Al-Nassr in recent years, and they are planning to make a statement signing before jetting off to the US. However, that statement signing will not be Ronaldo, it seems.

Instead, they are now heavily pushing to secure the arrival of Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes. Talks have been taking place all week, and Fabrizio Romano reports that Al-Hilal are ready to pay ‘whatever it takes’ to land Ronaldo’s compatriot.
