Cristiano Ronaldo remains in dispute with Al Nassr, and speculation that he will return to Sporting CP in Portugal has only stepped up after a deal was signed.
Ronaldo is unhappy in Saudi Arabia. He believes that other Pro League teams are receiving more favourable political backing than his Al Nassr outfit.
The 41-year-old has failed to win major silverware since making the move from Manchester United but is chasing down his target of 1000 career goals.
He has not featured in Al Nassr’s last two games due to the ongoing dispute, with little indication that it will be broken.
Indeed, the Saudi Pro League has hit back at its marquee player, indicating that he will have to soften his stance if he is to return to action.
In a statement, it said: “Cristiano has been fully engaged with Al Nassr since his arrival and has played an important role in the club’s growth and ambition. Like any elite competitor, he wants to win. But no individual – however significant – determines decisions beyond their own club.”
Cristiano Ronaldo to Sporting CP: An active rumour
As a figure who does not like to back down from a dispute, Ronaldo’s future has been thrown into the air, with speculation that he could leave as early as the summer – a year before his contract expires.
In particular, there has been a suggestion that he could return to Sporting, where he was a member of the academy until he was 18 years old.
Financially, he would have to make an enormous sacrifice, but the possibility is one that remains open.
Ronaldo’s company teams up with Sporting
Ronaldo has dropped a hint that lines of communication are open with the Lisbon-based club, with his company AVA CR7 signing a contract to work with Sporting.
“Champions recover with quality. We are proud to partner with Sporting CP and support every athlete on the path to success,” the company posted to their Instagram account.
What do AVA CR7 do?
Ronaldo’s company specialises in recovery for athletes.
On its website, it outlines its goal:
“We want to offer cutting-edge technology in physical recovery, empowering health and sports professionals with the smart tools they need for their daily work, so they can become bigger and better professionals.
“We want to be partners on the path to excellence for these professionals, helping them reach new levels of success and impact.
“We aim to be a true incubator of smart technologies in the field of sports recovery, driving innovations that transform the lives of athletes.
“We are deeply committed to research and ongoing collaboration, aiming to positively impact the development of solutions that open new horizons in these fields, promoting excellence, health and performance in a revolutionary way.”
