Steve Parish, the chairman of Crystal Palace, has been seriously considering removing Roy Hodgson from his managerial position following a record defeat against Brighton on Saturday.
However, he is facing difficulties in finding a replacement willing to take over at this point in the season, according to The Guardian.
The former England manager is under increased pressure after the devastating 4-1 loss, marking Palace’s heaviest defeat against their arch-rivals since 1956’s 5-0 loss.
Despite ongoing struggles, Parish, who had previously sacked Patrick Vieira in March last year after a 1-0 loss against Brighton, has been exploring potential replacements for weeks but has not committed to sacking Hodgson.
Parish, pictured at the Amex Stadium alongside loans manager Mark Bright, has faced criticism for the team’s recent performance, with only four wins in their last 17 league matches.

Hodgson was reportedly close to being sacked after a 5-0 defeat against Arsenal last month, but the team won 3-2 against Sheffield United after a 10-day break, seen as an ‘opportunity missed’ by board members.
Possible replacements such as Steve Cooper, sacked by Nottingham Forest in December, and former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui are hesitant to take over due to the limited time to prepare for upcoming fixtures against Chelsea, Everton, and Burnley.
The Palace chairman has not consulted with the club’s biggest shareholder, John Textor, since the Brighton defeat, despite Textor’s favoring the appointment of a new manager for several weeks.
Hodgson’s decision to bring on Michael Olise as a half-time substitute has also faced criticism, especially after the France Under-21 forward sustained his third hamstring injury of the season.
Despite the challenges, Hodgson insists he still has the appetite for the job.
