Crystal Palace are finalising the £22.5m transfer of Adam Wharton from Blackburn after he underwent his medical on Wednesday.
The deal is worth £18.5m plus £4m in add-ons for the 19-year-old who is signing a five and a half year contract at Selhurst Park in a significant move for the club.
Championship outfit Blackburn want to keep Wharton on loan, but the player is willing to leave now with Palace struggling in the Premier League.
Wharton, who has been at Ewood Park since the age of six, signed a deal in December which would have kept him at Blackburn until the end of the 2027-28 season.
The midfielder has gone on to make 51 senior appearances for the club since making his debut over a year ago, featuring in all but two of their league matches this season, returning two goals and three assists.

Meanwhile, Palace have also asked about West Ham‘s Maxwel Cornet who was the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest this week as well.
Cornet joined the Hammers from Burnley in August 2022 for £17.5million but has failed to live up to the potential that he arrived in London with.
The 27-year-old has made just three Premier League appearances for the club during that time and is now seeking to get his English top-flight career.
West Ham could sanction his exit before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Thursday, February 1.
Wolves are another Premier League side looking to strengthen in the final day of January movement and were in talks over a deal for Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto, but the move has now collapsed.

The 22-year-old forward, has been a target for West Ham and Everton recently due to his impressive goals return of 10 strikes for the Brazilian club last season.
A deal was close to being agreed for the Brazil international’s transfer to the Midlands before it broke down in the final stages due to financial differences.
The Molineux outfit have already looked abroad for more winter reinforcements with Noha Lemina becoming the next emerging talent to join Gary O’Neil’s side.
