Cunning €7m Celtic transfer plan prompts official response

Lech Poznan could look to sign Celtic loanee Luis Palma permanently and immediately sell him for a quick profit this summer, according to a journalist.

The Honduras international has been on the books at Parkhead since joining in a €4.75 million deal from Greek side Aris in 2023, but he has not actually played for the club in more than a year.

Palma returned to Greece in January 2025 by joining Olympiacos on loan. Six months later, he joined Polish outfit Lech Poznan on a season-long loan with a €4 million purchase option.

While not a spectacular signing, the 26-year-old has been solid enough, producing six goals and seven assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. As a result, Lech are open to making his stay permanent.

Palma himself has already stated that he would like to stay at the club, who are currently third in the Ekstraklasa and firmly involved in one of the most remarkable title races in Europe this season. Only four points separate first and seventh in the Polish top flight right now.

Lech’s Palma plan

Palma said of his future earlier this month: “I hope to stay at Lech for a long time. But it’s not just my decision. I’m doing my thing day by day, and I’m very happy about it.”

However, according to Polish journalist Adam Slawinski, Lech have other ideas. Given that signing Palma permanently for €4m would almost double the club’s previous transfer record, Slawinski posits that they could look to flip him for a quick profit to immediately recoup that outlay.

“The club is looking at the market to see who would like to buy the Honduran international,” he claimed on Kanal Sportowy. “They want to ensure that the 26-year-old participates in the key stages of the European Cup qualifiers. They would be willing to buy Palma for €4m and then sell him for €6m or €7m.

“However, the scenario in which Lech buys Palma, and he simply stays with the team, is not being considered. It’s a system of interconnected processes. If the Honduran player is bought out, there will be another move towards selling him.”

This claim from Slawinski prompted an official response from Lech in the form of the club’s press officer, Adrian Galuzska, who simply replied on X: “None of this is true.” Galuzska previously stated that Poznan could absolutely keep Palma long-term.
