David Moyes revealed the work Everton have been putting in creating chances as they climbed further away from relegation trouble with their third consecutive victory, this time 4-0 against Leicester.
Everton were the lowest scorers in the league bar Southampton when Moyes replaced Sean Dyche three weeks ago but have now banged in eight in their last three matches and were buoyed on Saturday midfield creator James Garner’s first start for four months after a back injury.
‘We had a good strong base defensively which was in place we had to find ways of creating more goals,’ said Moyes.
‘We are trying to get more control of the ball. I want to add a little bit more composure.
‘I thought Jake O’Brien can do that at right-back, he has speed in his game as well, and it’s the first time I have had Jimmy (Garner) in the team.
‘His pass for the third goal was fabulous. I am pleased to have him back and I think the players have given themselves a little bit of confidence.’

Abdoulaye Doucoure, Beto (2) and Iliman Ndiaye sent the feelgood factor soaring at Goodison Park.
‘It was a brilliant result and if you’d given me three wins out of the four we have played, I would have taken that. We are doing a lot of good things,’ added Moyes.
Doucoure scored the quickest goal in Everton’s history to give them the lead. ‘After 10 seconds I was thinking this was fabulous,’ smiled the manager.
Ruud van Nistelrooy tried not to savage his players after a bad beating. The Foxes were 2-0 down after six minutes. ‘It gave us a mountain to climb and we couldn’t come back from it,’ said the Leicester manager.
‘I see this game as a one-off because the performance at Spurs in the last game was different. We have to got back to that.
‘We are better than we showed today.’
Van Nistelrooy said that left-back Luke Thomas wouldn’t be allowed to leave the club in the final days of the window unless a replacement was signed.
