Real Madrid are set to sign Bournemouth centre back Dean Huijsen for £50million after agreeing terms on Friday.

With Bournemouth’s next Premier League game on Tuesday against FA Cup finalists Manchester City, Huijsen was given permission to travel to London on Friday to undergo the first part of his medical.

The Spain international’s representatives had flown to Madrid on Thursday to discuss personal terms over what it is understood will be a five year contract.

As Mail Sport reported, Madrid emerged as favourites to sign the 20-year old at the beginning of this week as they have been the 20-year-old’s preferred choice.

They then discussed payment of the release clause with Bournemouth on Wednesday with the fee to be paid in three instalments. His former clubs, Juventus and Malaga will receive 10 per cent and five per cent respectively.

Real wanted to complete the signing before next month’s inaugural Club World Cup in USA.

Huijsen, who joined from Juventus last summer for just £12.6m, had seven offers on the table, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle all keen to take him after a stand-out season.

Bournemouth are on the lookout for a replacement and have discussed a potential move for Nathan Zeze, 19, from Nantes.

Madrid have also spoken to Liverpool about bringing forward the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold but have yet to offer a fee.

Liverpool are closing on Bayer Leverkusen right wing back Jeremie Frimpong and are willing to activate his £29.5m clause.
