Several Bundesliga clubs played friendlies on Saturday with only two weeks remaining before the season starts with the DFB-Pokal first round.

RB Leipzig faced a strong opponent at home in the form of Atalanta. While the news of Benjamin Šeško and Xavi Simons being out of the squad the headline story, Lois Openda, who is also on the shortlist of Premier League clubs, scored a beautiful goal to put them in front.

However, the Serie A outfit won the game thanks to goals in the final five minutes from Gianluca Scamaca and Lorenzo Bernasconi. Leipzig will end their preseason fixture list with a game at RC Lens next weekend.

Similarly, Union Berlin narrowly lost at home to Espanyol. The La Liga side scored the only goal from a penalty-kick by their star player Javi Puado. Union Berlin’s last friendly game will see them face Olympiacos next week.

Technically, Wolfsburg didn’t lose away at Feyenoord as the match was abandoned following a medical emergency in the stands. However, the Eredivisie side, who will play a Champions League game against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe in midweek, were leading 4-0 when the incident happened a few minutes before the final whistle.
