VfB striker Deniz Undav has commented on his former teammate Enzo Millot and his transfer to al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
Many people are still criticizing young players who make the decision to go to a club in Saudi Arabia. 23-year-old Enzo Millot is one of the latest young players to make that switch – he went from Stuttgart to al-Ahli for €28 million.
His former teammate Deniz Undav has now commented on the criticism over the move:
“He wanted this transfer – and it’s a good deal for him, I’m very happy for him. I got to know him over the last two years and he is a great guy, I really like him and I wish him all the best now.”
“It’s his decision to go there and of course there was always going to be people criticizing him for that move – but I don’t really understand that. You can’t tell me you wouldn’t consider a move in your career with that much more money involved.”
“He’s providing for his family and this move allows him to provide for many generations after as well. His contract runs until 2028 and he can still come back to Europe after that time and be in his prime.”
