Federico Dimarco warns Inter that being ‘top of the table now doesn’t count for anything, there is a long way to go,’ while Ange-Yoan Bonny has already learned how to meet his assists.

The Nerazzurri knew this was a huge opportunity to shake up the Scudetto race after Napoli and Milan stumbles, and they took under three minutes to break down a Lazio side who had kept four consecutive clean sheets.

Lautaro Martinez ended his Serie A goal drought, having already scored midweek in the Champions League, and Bonny met the Dimarco assist to secure the 2-0 victory.

“We knew it was an important moment of the match, as we were under pressure, so that goal allowed us to take control,” Dimarco told DAZN Italia.

“Bonny works hard, he has real room for improvement, and he was a great signing for Inter.”

This result means Inter and Roma are the new joint Serie A leaders going into the break for international duty on 24 points, followed by Milan and Napoli on 22.

Considering their recent history, were Inter underestimated in the Scudetto race?

“That is not for me to say, but being top right now doesn’t count for anything, there is a long way to go.”

Dimarco was named Serie A Man of the Match, having provided the assist for Bonny with a perfectly weighted ball from the left.

“When I see Dimarco go down there, I know to get into the box, because there will always be goals and assists,” smiled Bonny on DAZN Italia.

When Serie A resumes after the break for international duty, Inter and AC Milan go head-to-head in the Derby della Madonnina.

“I realise the derby is a very important match, but we want to have the same approach in every game.”
