Inter wing-back Federico Dimarco has pointed out the one biggest issue he had while playing under former Nerazzurri head coach Simone Inzaghi last season, indicating that he was not a fan of being brought off before full-time on such a regular basis.

The Italy international opened up during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Inter-Slavia Prague Champions League clash on Tuesday night, admitting that he has lacked ‘confidence on a personal level’ in recent weeks.

Inter endured a slightly rocky start to the season with back-to-back league defeats against Juventus and Udinese, but have since bounced back with three consecutive wins across all competitions, including a 2-0 victory over Ajax last time out in Europe.

What Dimarco said about Inzaghi in Champions League press conference

During his pre-match press conference before Inter’s match against Slavia Prague in San Siro, Dimarco was asked about the differences he has found working under Cristian Chivu compared to Simone Inzaghi.

He indicated that game time, and often being substituted off around the hour mark became a bit of an issue for him.

“You can only prepare for matches by playing. Coming off on the 60th minute a lot of the time was difficult to grow. I’m playing more this year, and it shows,” Dimarco insisted.

And on the overall differences in styles of play between the two coaches, Dimarco said: “We’re looking to play vertically a lot more, but we’ve not lost the base that we’ve had for the last few years.”
