Juventus have an agreement with LaLiga side Girona to send unused midfielder Arthur Melo out on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, and the Brazilian is already on his way over to Spain for a medical test with his new club.

Arthur has not featured in a competitive match for Juventus since the latter part of the 2021-22 season.

He had a disastrous spell on loan with Liverpool in 2022-23, a more successful time with Fiorentina in 2023-24, but has not featured for Juventus at all this campaign, despite being a surprise inclusion on Thiago Motta’s Champions League list at the start of the campaign.

Juventus have now arranged a deal for a third loan spell in three seasons, which will see the Brazilian join Girona on loan for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign.

Girona are not expected to pay a fee to sign Arthur on loan, but will contribute a ‘substantial’ portion of his wages according to reports from Calciomercato.com. There had also been interest from Brazilian outfit Santos in January.

There is no buy option included, so Arthur will return to Turin in the summer regardless of what happens over the next few months. He is currently under contract until the summer of 2026.

Arthur has already set off from Turin and has boarded a flight heading for Spain ahead of his medicals with Girona.
