Lazio and former head coach Maurizio Sarri now have a total agreement in place for the 66-year-old to return to the Stadio Olimpico, just over a year after his resignation, Football Italia understands.

Football Italia can reveal that there is now a final agreement in place between Lazio and Sarri for a two-year contract with an option of an additional 12 months.

After a meeting between the relevant parties in Tuscany, there is now an agreement over a salary, which had been a minor issue previously.

The club and the returning head coach also have agreements in place over plans for the summer transfer window.

Sarri had previously spent just shy of three seasons in charge of the Biancocelesti between 2021 and 2024, but handed in his resignation in March of last year after a poor run of results at the Stadio Olimpico.

He is now expected to return just 15 months later.

Sarri is expected to be more involved in transfer decisions this time around. For example, if a star player is looking to leave, the coach will only sanction it if an appropriate replacement is lined up.
