Donnarumma ‘disappointed’ as PSG goalkeeper hits out at Luis Enrique – Football Italia

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has released a statement this evening thanking his teammates and fans in the French capital but confessed he is “disappointed and disheartened” of head coach Luis Enrique’s decision to replace him with Lucas Chevalier.

In a lengthy post on his Instagram profile, Donnarumma said “From the first day I arrived, I gave everything – on and off the pitch – to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain.” “Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team’s success. I am disappointed and disheartened.”

Earlier today, PSG head coach Luis Enrique accepted “100% responsibility” in the decision to part ways with Donnarumma.

Donnarumma, clearly upset by how the saga has unfolded, said “I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done. If that doesn’t happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me, and I will never forget it. I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights, and of you, who made me feel at home.”

The former Milan goalkeeper also thanked his fellow players at the Ligue 1 club, “To my teammates – my second family – thank you for every battle, every laugh, every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers.”

Finally, Donnarumma said “Playing for this club and living in this city has been an immense honour.”

This afternoon on Football Italia, we revealed the 26-year-old is liked by Pep Guardiola, who wants to bring the Italian to Manchester City, whilst Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also reportedly enquired for the player.
