Dortmund farewell expected for Özcan as Beşiktaş close in

Özcan moved to BVB from 1.FC Köln for €5million in July 2022, but looks destined to leave the Westphalians in January.

Salih Özcan’s time with Borussia Dortmund appears to be over, according to Istanbul daily newspaper Sözcü.

Beşiktaş has supposedly reached an agreement with both Dortmund and Özcan himself regarding a winter transfer.

The deal, reportedly worth €3million which the Westphalians will pocket, is expected to be finalized in the coming days.

While this isn’t a big windfall for the Black and Yellows, it’s a fair market price six months before Özcan’s contract expires.

Beşiktaş has made room in its squad on Friday, 26 December, as midfielder Necip Uysal and goalkeeper Mert Günok were released.

This clears the way for Özcan, who only managed 21 minutes of playing time at BVB in the first half of the season.

All in all, the 27-year-old made 88 appearances across all competitions for BVB with just two assists to his name.
