According to WAZ, both Johan Bakayoko and Andrija Maksimovic were offered to Borussia Dortmund before ultimately joining RB Leipzig.

Borussia Dortmund passed on late chances to sign Johan Bakayoko and Andrija Maksimovic, according to WAZ.

The report suggests that the Black and Yellows were offered both Bakayoko and Maksimovic, but turned down the opportunity to sign either player, as they were “not convinced that either was better than those already under contract in Dortmund.”

Ultimately, RB Leipzig paid a combined €32 million to bring the duo to the Red Bull Arena.

For now, midfielder Jobe Bellingham, signed from Sunderland for €30 million, and veteran goalkeeper Patrick Drewes, who has joined from Bochum, remain Dortmund’s only new arrivals this summer.

But the Black and Yellows are actively working to bolster their attack.
