Reports from Italy suggest that Juventus could bench Dusan Vlahovic and even look to sell him in January in order to give more space to Jonathan David, despite the Serbian’s decent start to the season.

Pundits on TMW Radio, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb, were divided on whether or not the Bianconeri should part ways with Vlahovic in January, with a number of top clubs in Italy and the Premier League reportedly monitoring the striker’s situation.

Mixed verdicts on the future of Dusan Vlahovic

Stefano Impallomeni and Massimo Orlando argued the Serbian was more effective as an impact substitute, with Orlando insisting “If a player comes on and scores every time, I wouldn’t even think about starting him.”

Paolo De Paola supported that view, noting the Juventus forward “had always disappointed a little as a starter.”

Others disagreed, with Christian Recalcati suggesting Dusan Vlahovic merited a starting role, “David has done well in Ligue 1 but I don’t know if he suits a big club like Juve.” Daniele Garbo also branded the idea of a January sale as “shocking.”

Former Juventus midfielder Marino Magrin also underlined Vlahovic’s importance, “He is very important for the attack and has always been professional, without making a fuss about his situation.”

Massimo Bonanni saw logic in starting the Canadian David instead but warned that selling Vlahovic in January would be “an own goal.”
