Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato is undergoing his medical at Chelsea following a transfer agreement with the Eredivisie outfit.
The Netherlands international has been a key player for the Dutch heavyweights, but he has chosen to pursue a new challenge this summer.
Arsenal were initially keen on landing his signature, but their decision to land Cristhian Mosquera has paved the way for the Blues to easily sign him.
The west London giants have agreed a package worth €42 million for the versatile defender, who can operate in central defence or at right-back.
Hato is currently undergoing his medical tests at the Blues and he could be formally announced as a new player within the next 24 to 48 hours.
The 19-year-old is expected to pen a seven-year deal with the Club World Cup champions and could primarily operate as a back-up option.
He could compete for places with Marc Cucurella at left-back while also offering back-up to Levi Colwill in the heart of the defence.
