Atalanta could reportedly bring Italy international Federico Chiesa back to Serie A after his experience at Liverpool, potentially as part of an exchange with Ademola Lookman.

The winger had been linked with several different sides when it became clear Juventus would not offer him a new contract last summer, so he eventually joined Liverpool for €12m plus bonuses.

Although he participated enough to pick up a winner’s medal in the Premier League, there were only 13 competitive appearances throughout the campaign, scoring two goals with two assists.

A lot of that was down to injuries, but Chiesa is still tempted by a return to Italy, with sides like Milan, Roma and Napoli all showing interest.

The latest to join that list is Atalanta, as Quotidiano Sportivo claim he would suit their attacking approach and focus on wide strikers.

It would also allow him to play regularly in Serie A and the Champions League, partnering Italy centre-forward Mateo Retegui and hoping to win his place back in the Azzurri side.

Atalanta had already looked at the 28-year-old in January when Lookman was considering an exit, so if Liverpool are still pursuing the Nigeria international, they could use Chiesa as part of the deal.
