Crystal Palace superstar Eberechi Eze has reportedly informed friends that he will join Arsenal this summer.
The England international has been heavily linked with a blockbuster move to the Emirates Stadium over the past few weeks and the Gunners remain interested in completing a deal despite the recent arrival of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
Eze enjoyed the best season of his career last term, notching 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Crystal Palace as the Eagles won their first ever major trophy. His form has led to significant transfer interest and Arsenal are eager to win the race for his signature amid competition from Chelsea.
The 27-year-old has a €77.8 million release clause included in his current contract at Selhurst Park and Oliver Glasner’s side are currently unwilling to sanction a sale unless this figure is matched.
Although Arsenal are hesitant to trigger Eze’s release clause, following a spending spree so far this summer, the Englishman has told “friends” that he will complete a move to the Emirates Stadium before the end of the summer transfer window.
That is according to TBR Football, who claim there is a “very good chance” that Eze will become an Arsenal player in August.
Arsenal to sign Eberechi Eze this summer?
If Arsenal are able to finalise a deal for Eze over the next month, their summer spending will exceed the €230m mark.
The Gunners have already spent €142.8m on Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga and the aforementioned Madueke, while Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera are both on the verge of joining the club.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, risk losing Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta in addition to Eze, with all three players wanted by top clubs in England.
Guehi has been tipped to join Liverpool before the end of Transfer Deadline Day on 1 September, while Mateta has frequently been linked with a move to Manchester United amid Ruben Amorim’s desire to bring a new striker to Old Trafford.
