Arsenal and England attacker Eberechi Eze reckons he has become a better player since his £60m transfer from Crystal Palace as he seeks trophies for club and country
After scoring his first Wembley goal since the FA Cup final winner, Eberechi Eze declared he is now ready to go claim more silverware next summer for Arsenal and England.
And the former Crystal Palace star reckons his £60m transfer across London – and his two managers – have made him an even better player as he pursues Premier League, Champions League and World Cup glory.
“I am confident it will be a great season,” he stated. “That’s the aim. That’s what we’re striving towards and working towards every day, club and country. It’s an exciting time. Have I brought my confidence from playing for Arsenal to England?
“For sure, playing at the highest level, it helps you get better. You think quicker, you play better. So I feel like it’s definitely helped me. From last season, again, growing, coming up more as a complete player.”

Eze oozed calm and confidence as he spoke after the 2-0 win over Serbia – his Gunners team-mate Bukayo Saka scored the first – with both of their sides topping the tables in their campaigns.
And the Londoner sees similarities in the solid defences of Arsenal and England – and the his coaches Thomas Tuchel and Mikel Areta
“I would just say the level of intensity of thought and being steps ahead in the game, understanding the game differently,” said Eze.
“I feel that’s been a huge plus, to see things better and more clearly which, of course, is going to make me a better player, improve the way I think, the way I operate. Both very intense, both very aware of the details, which is one of the most important things, and for sure, it helps me.”
England have conceded no goals in their seven World Cup qualifiers while Arsenal have conceded five in 11 Premier League games.
“Yeah, it’s good to be part of these types of squads where the players at the back are so solid and so on it and they’re just so structured,” Eze added. “You control a lot of the game, and you have plenty of opportunities to go up the other end. So yes, it’s fun for me, and it’s enjoyable and I pray to God it continues.”
He is expected to help with the defensive work but his main job is to create and score.
Eze came off the bench to light up Wembley on a dank Thursday evening with his 90th-minute strike and press his case for a place in the World Cup squad.
“Making an impact, that’s what I want to do,” he added. “You’ve got a window of 30 minutes, you take it. If it’s 90 minutes, you take it. The amount of talent and ability that’s in the team, whatever opportunity you get you have to work with it.”
Tuchel said this week that he will not pick more than four No.10s in his World Cup squad but Eze showed his versatility down the left against Serbia.
“I see myself as an attacking player,” he stated. “So wherever I am, left, 10, right, striker, eight, wherever it is, I’m going to do my job. I’m going to do what the role is. But of course, I’m a creative player. So these are the things I want to do, score and assist, create and try and express myself.”
