QPR are set to receive a healthy cash injection if former forward Eberechi Eze completes his blockbuster move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal this week
Queens Park Rangers are set to receive a significant financial boost if former star Eberechi Eze completes his £67.5million move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal.
The Gunners have agreed a deal worth £60million plus £7.5million in add-ons for the England international having hijacked Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of one of the Premier League’s most sought-after talents.
QPR, who sold Eze to Palace in 2020, inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause into that deal relating to any profit made. And that means the Championship side are expected to pocket around £7million once the transfer is finalised — a significant windfall given the West London club’s financial belt-tightening in the past few years. Released by Arsenal as a teenager, Eze rebuilt his career at Loftus Road before securing his move to Selhurst Park. Since then, he has developed into a key figure for both club and country, earning international recognition with the Three Lions.

Big-spending Arsenal had backed away from a move for Eze in recent weeks, apparently leaving neighbours Spurs in pole position to sign him. But an injury to Kai Havertz has prompted an abrupt return — just as their north London rivals were about to seal their deal to bring across the Thames.
Palace chairman Steve Parish and his Tottenham counterpart Daniel Levy had been locked in talks over a deal for Eze but they have been gazumped. Eze has always preferred to join his boyhood club and personal terms were never going to be an issue.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta and vice-chairman Tim Lewis worked quickly to reach an agreement, which will see Eze undergo a medical after playing one final time for Palace in their Conference League play-off match against Fredrikstad on Thursday.
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is keen to add creativity to his squad after losing James Maddison to a serious knee injury. But Palace’s insistence that nothing be sorted before their Conference League play-off match ended up scuppering their chances.
The Gunners have already spent over £200m to sign Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga. They have struggled to offload unwanted players, but have seen their hand forced by Havertz’s injury, which leaves them short up front.
Eze has made 167 appearances for Palace since joining the club from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 in a deal worth £17m. The 27-year-old is keen to move back to Arsenal, the club he supported as a boy, where he will play in the Champions League and potentially challenge for the Premier League title.
