As Bayern Munich prepare to jet off to Cyprus for a meeting with Pafos FC tomorrow night, Max Eberl discussed contract talks with BILD regarding Harry Kane and Dayot Upamecano.

“Harry is an exceptional player for us, a true leader. He underscored his desire to join Bayern. He also said it’s great to play with us and win titles.

“We want to continue doing that with him for a long time to come. That’s why we’ll discuss the next steps with him in a relaxed way.

“I’m not surprised that many clubs are interested in Dayot. We’re also interested in extending his contract. It takes time, like the other contracts last year.

“We’re trying to conduct the talks and convince him of the Bayern project. We definitely want to keep them both,” Eberl added.

Their Champions League clash with Pafos is considered a mismatch by many around the continent, but Bayern’s sporting director isn’t underestimating the task at hand.

“Everyone expects us to win in Cyprus. We want to win there, no doubt. It’s always a bit more difficult away from home.

“We have to bring our qualities onto the pitch, the energy, the dominance we have. If we do that, we should win the game,” he said.
