For some time, it has been reported that Manchester City are planning cutting Claudio Echeverri’s loan at Bayer Leverkusen short in January.

Now, Spanish outlets Ràdio Girona and SER Catalunya report that Manchester City and their partner club FC Girona are close to agreeing on a deal for the 19-year-old to join the La Liga side on loan this winter.

The attacking midfielder is reportedly keen on the move, having seen limited playing time at Leverkusen since his summer transfer.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Manchester City can trigger a recall clause, as Echeverri is no longer able to reach a certain number of appearances for Die Werkself.

So far, the Argentine has made just 11 appearances, including three starts, for Bayer Leverkusen.
