In this week’s Bundesliga top match, Borussia Dortmund want to beat VfB Stuttgart in order to close the gap between them. BVB coach Edin Terzic praised Stuttgart star player Chris Führich at the press conference.

Chris Führich was at Borussia Dortmund as recently as 2021 – but he was playing for the youth team, not the first squad. He only started to break through after his transfer to Paderborn and later to his current club Stuttgart, where he became a player for the German national team.

Führich’s current season with Stuttgart has certainly caught the eye: 31 games, eight goals and seven assists stand to his name. His performances didn’t go unnoticed, especially not at his former club Borussia Dortmund. Stuttgart (currently third) and Dortmund (currently fourth) will meet in a colossal match up on Saturday at 18.30 CET.

At the press conference before the game, Dortmund coach Edin Terzic was asked about Führich and his qualities, to which Terzic responded accordingly: “I’ve known Chris for a long time. We brought him to Dortmund’s U16 back then. He was a little bit weak physically, but his qualities on the ball always were outstanding.”

“His creativity, his courage, his speed… you could see everything back then – and I’m sure he wants to show all of this again on Saturday”, said Terzic. A lot of praise for his former player.

But as Sky Germany reports, Führich could be more than just a former player for Dortmund. With an exit clause of €20m, the Stuttgart winger is a definite transfer target for many top clubs: Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Leipzig – and of course Dortmund.
