Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Atalanta BC Champions League preview: Team news and predicted lineups

Team news, predicted lineups and key insights ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt’s clash with Atalanta on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League.

Frankfurt are looking to get back to winning ways in the Champions League after a run of three matches without a win in the competition.

Die Adler dispatched Galatasaray by five goals to one on opening night, but have since lost to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool – both finishing 5-1, and played out a 0-0 draw with Napoli.

In the Bundesliga, Eintracht have won their last two – 1-0 against Mainz, and 4-3 against Köln.

Against Italian opposition again, Dino Toppmöller’s side are looking to put their first points on the board since Matchday 1, and climb above Wednesday’s opponents.

Atalanta have struggled to adapt to life without Gianpiero Gasperini at the helm. La Dea sit 13th in Serie A, having put just 13 points on the board thus far, resulting in the sacking of Ivan Juric, and subsequent hiring of Raffaele Paladino.

Paladino oversaw a 3-1 away defeat against Scudetto winners Napoli at the weekend, but will sense a big chance for his side to make an impression on their travels from Bergamo this week, before they host Fiorentina at the weekend.

Can Uzun remains out for the hosts and will remain out until early December due to a hamstring injury. The same can be said for Hugo Larsson, who is suffering from a thigh injury.

For La Dea, Giorgio Scalvini and ex-Leverkusen full-back Mitchel Bakker will both be absent, with the latter not expected to return until March due to a cruciate ligament injury suffered over pre-season.

Eintracht Frankfurt predicted lineup – 4-2-3-1: Zetterer – Kristensen, Koch, Theate, Brown – Dahoud, Chaibi – Doan, Götze, Knauff – Burkardt

Atalanta predicted lineup – 3-4-1-2: Carnesecchi – Djimsiti, Hien, Ahanor – Bellanova, Ederson, De Roon, Zappacosta – Pasalic – De Ketelaere, Lookman
