The forward looked to have picked up a knock against Chelsea, but England can of course still call up a player to be around the squad and assess his fitness there, which might indicate he plays a key role in the near future of the side.

Reports emerged earlier today which indicated that Gordon could be one of those to have their names read out by Southgate in a little over half an hour.

The left wing spot has opened up slightly in recent weeks with the injury to Jack Grealish, and with Marcus Rashford also not quite at his best, Phil Foden and James Maddison seem to be the main contenders right now.

Both of those two are equally god through the middle as a No 10 so could that leave Gordon a space to capitalise on in these friendlies?
