Enzo Fernandez has denied reports that he has offered himself to Barcelona and insisted he is happy at Chelsea

The World Cup winner scored the third goal for the Blues on Monday night as they completed a 3-1 comeback victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

It was the midfielder’s second goal in as many games following his stunning free-kick in the win over Aston Villa last week, which was shortly followed by reports in Spain of his desire to leave Stamford Bridge.

Sport claimed that the £107million signing’s agent had approached the LaLiga giants, with the Argentine keen on a move to the Nou Camp. Their report went on to say that Barcelona are reportedly keen on Fernandez but will struggle to generate funds to lure the expensive midfielder.

The 23-year-old sought to distance himself from the rumours following the London derby win, claiming that he doesn’t know where the stories came from.

‘I don’t want to leave Chelsea. I am very good here with my teammates and coaching staff, from the first day I have arrived.’ He told ESPN Argentina. ‘The people at the club are treating me very well, I’m grateful for that. I will continue here until they want me to.

‘I don’t know where those rumors came from, they had spoken on social networks. I come out to totally deny that.’

Fernandez has begun to show signs of the form that motivated Chelsea to spend a then-British record fee to acquire him from Benfica in January 2023.

Alongside fellow £100m-plus signing Moises Caicedo, Fernandez has become more influential in the centre of the park for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Barcelona will likely be in need of a holding midfielder in the summer, with the news that Frenkie de Jong would be willing to move on at the end of the season.

The Dutchman is likely to fetch a considerable sum that could make the acquisition of a player such a Fernandez more realistic, despite their dire financial situation.
