Enzo Maresca sends message to Liam Delap after debut Chelsea goal

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his pleasure following Liam Delap‘s maiden club goal against ES Tunis on Tuesday night.

The England youth international joined the Blues from Ipswich Town earlier this month and he was immediately included in the Club World Cup squad.

Delap provided an assist on his debut and has now found the back of the net. The Blues secured a comfortable 3-0 win over ES Tunis yesterday.

Speaking after the game, Maresca said on Delap: “It’s a good feeling for him and his teammates. We are happy to have him with us.”

The Blues have qualified for the last 16 of the Club World Cup. They will face Benfica, who finished top of their group ahead of Bayern Munich.

Should they beat the Portuguese outfit, they could come up against either Palmeiras or Botafogo in the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Chelsea have been handed an easier passage to the last four, but they can’t be complacent. Botafogo recently stunned Paris Saint-Germain.
