Eric Cantona was once again an agent of chaos as he stormed off a punditry panel – but the football legend had a fair reason to do so.
The former Manchester United star looked bored and restless as he dragged through Showmax’s Premier League preview show for Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Fulham.
Sat alongside Owen Hargreaves, the football star-turned-philosopher huffed and grunted when called upon to answer and offered little insight.
Asked who the title contenders are, Cantona simply answered ‘nah’, and when quizzed about what fans watching at home can expect from Manchester United this season, he replied: ‘Television? Yes, television.’
That was only the prelude to the madness, as Cantona then ripped off his microphone, took of his jacket, flung away his tie, and stalked over to the camera.

The football legend gave a speech about about the beautiful game needing to be ‘everywhere’ – not just on television and in the stands
‘We call this “the beautiful game” but how many people in this world don’t even own a television? What of them?
‘How do we serve this to them? To be truly beautiful, the game should be everywhere! It cannot be stuck on the wall or just in a bar, no!’
‘It must fly,’ he said, then flapping his arms – seemingly a reference to his infamous seagulls speech.
‘And, my friends, no one – no one! – should believe the Premier League is out of their league.
‘This marks the beginning. The revolution… has begun.’
At that point Cantona stormed away and presenter Julia Stuart was left befuddled alongside Hargreaves, wondering: ‘What do I do?’
Viewers would also have been forgiven for thinking the football legend had lost his conkers, but it turns out he had a perfectly legitimate excuse for his behaviour.
That’s because the entire episode was a skit, with the deep-thinking Cantona deemed the perfect candidate to deliver the philosophical lecture.
He also launched into a flying motion, reminiscent of the theme of his infamous seagulls talk
Fans were confused, but it was actually all a stunt to promote Showmax’s live streams
It was all a stunt to promote Showmax’s live-streamed Premier League content, as they claimed their ‘revolution will not be televised’.
Plenty of viewers seemed to be fooled by the stunt and with Cantona’s history of theatrical behaviour, it’s no surprise.
