Erik ten Hag claims Man Utd controlled the game vs Newport

Ten Hag pleased with FA Cup result

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said that his team controlled the game against Newport County at Rodney Parade.

The Red Devils raced to a 2-0 lead in the FA Cup fourth round tie, but the deficit was reduced by Newport before the interval.

Immediately after the break, the hosts equalled the proceedings, but United were able to react and secure a hard-fought win.

Antony made it 3-2 after the hour mark before Rasmus Hojlund put the game to bed with the fourth goal late in stoppage time.

Speaking after the win, Ten Hag said that United controlled the game and should have been 3-0 up during the opening half.

He said: “We controlled the game, maybe we went a little bit slower. We had the chance to go 3-0. Garnacho hit the crossbar. They had nothing, really nothing and then they scored a goal.”

United have now progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup where they will come up against Bristol City or Nottingham Forest.
