Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag did not want to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna over the summer, according to The Sun.
The Dutchman was backed with a £180m spending spree in the last transfer window. Zirkzee was one of the five major signings made.
The striker made a perfect start with a winning goal off the bench, but he has failed to score in his next 13 appearances for the Red Devils.
It is now reported that Ten Hag did not recommend Zirkzee to the board and it was INEOS who made the decision to land his signature.
Furthermore, Ten Hag was furious with Zirkzee being overweight on his arrival.
Zirkzee’s future has already come into question. It has been reported that Ruben Amorim has decided to offload him at the end of the season.
The incoming manager does not believe the Dutchman has the traits to play under him and he would prefer another marquee striker signing.
