Europa League pitch covered in snow after blizzard hits just hours before kick-off – but the quarter-final clash is still ON

Bodo/Glimt’s Europa League clash with Lazio on Thursday night was thrown into doubt after a blizzard covered the pitch in snow hours before kick-off but the game is incredibly set to go ahead.

Former Norway star Jan Age Fjortoft shocked fans when he shared a video of the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday morning, writing ‘Welcome to Bodo, Lazio.’

In the clip, Flortoft pans around the ground, showing the entire pitch hidden by a thick layer of snow with more still falling.

However, UEFA confirmed that the quarter-final first leg will still go ahead as planned.

The pitch is heated and is ‘snow-proof’, and there were two ploughs out on the pitch on Thursday to clear any residue snow off the playing surface.
