Everton have confirmed Beto has been released from hospital following medical checks after being knocked unconscious in their win over Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League match was paused during injury time after Beto and Morgan Gibbs-White suffered a nasty accidental clash of heads.

The game was paused for just under 10 minutes minutes, with both players receiving treatment on the pitch after colliding in the air while competing for a high ball inside the Everton half.

Gibbs-White subsequently rose to his feet and appeared to walk off the field to receive more treatment.

But Beto, who seemed to stay prone on the floor for much longer following the collision, was subsequently taken from the field on a stretcher in the 10th minute of injury time.

Despite the concerning scenes, the 26-year-old, who was seen receiving oxygen, lifted his thumb up to the Everton fans inside Goodison Park, as he was taken from the field. Gibbs-White, meanwhile, remained on the pitch.

Everton subsequently confirmed that Beto was taken to hospital ‘as a precaution after being knocked unconscious.’

‘The early signs were very good, very positive. He had come around and was speaking to the physios and the medical team so that’s good news at this early stage,’ Sean Dyche confirmed after the match.

Everton posted an update on Sunday evening, confirming Beto had been cleared to leave hospital.

‘Beto has now left hospital after medical investigations were clear,’ a social media post read.

Youssef Chermiti came on to replace the Everton forward, with the Toffees subsequently going on to claim a two-goal victory thanks to Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil’s long-range strikes.

The victory, Everton’s second in their last 16 matches, puts the hosts four points clear of Nottingham Forest at the bottom of the table, and five clear of Luton at the top rung of the drop zone.

It also came after Sean Dyche delivered an impassioned rant to his players this week, claiming that he would ‘not be their fall guy’.

Amid difficulties in front of goal this season, Gueye would strike a superb effort from long range, driving a low shot past Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, to give them the lead after 29 minutes.

Dwight McNeil followed up with a second in the 76th minute, with an equally excellent strike from long range, hitting the ball in off the post.
