Everton look to steal £30m Man United target as boss David Moyes admits to holding talks with the in-demand striker – but so have four other clubs

Everton have held talks with in-demand striker Liam Delap and made their case for the £30million Ipswich man to join them over fellow Premier League rivals.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle are also in pursuit of the 22-year-old who has scored 12 goals this season for the relegated Tractor Boys.

But boss David Moyes has made his case to Delap, who signed a door outside Goodison Park earlier this month, telling him why he should join them instead.

Moyes said: ‘He’s spoken to three or four clubs and you know, he’s given us the opportunity to pitch our case.

‘We’re probably a little bit behind the black ball, but you never know what happens.’

Everton are also keeping an eye on Liverpool and Scotland winger Ben Doak, who has spent this season on loan at Championship Middlesbrough. The Premier League champions would demand around £30million for Doak who also has suitors at Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

Moyes will be without Jarrad Branthwaite for their final game of the season, away at Newcastle, with the defender suffering a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of England duty this summer with either the senior squad or at the Under 21s European Championship.
