After Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen, captain Robert Andrich criticized teammates for putting themselves above the team.

After a disappointing 1-2 defeat to Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga opener last week, Bayer Leverkusen endured another setback on Saturday, squandering a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Werder Bremen.

Speaking after the match, Bayer 04 captain Robert Andrich issued clear criticism of some teammates without naming any names.

“We have too many people who are only concerned with other things. Too many who are only concerned with themselves. That’s what the game looked like: everyone played for themselves. Everyone ran around on the pitch for themselves alone,” he said in a post-match interview, according to DPA.

When asked whether Leverkusen’s struggles were due to players misinterpreting ten Hag’s instructions or simply not knowing what to do, the Andrich replied:

“It’s a mixture of both. I have to hold myself accountable too, because I am the captain, I am in midfield, I have to keep the team together. That’s why I must first question myself.”
