Exclusive : Atalanta put Mateta top of the wish list with 40m ready

The top name on the Atalanta wish list is Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace and they could be prepared to put €40m on the table for the striker next week.

La Dea know that sooner or later the Ademola Lookman situation will be resolved, so either with that money or the funds earned from the sale of Mateo Retegui to Al-Qadsiyah, they are set to bring in a great striker.

Mateta future clear after Community Shield

There is talk of Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham, and he is of interest, but we can confirm what we revealed a few days ago, which is that Mateta is the first choice here.

In depth negotiations were held with Crystal Palace, including over the last few hours, and his future will be clearer after participating in the Community Shield against Liverpool on Sunday.

With the sale of Lookman, Atalanta could be willing to put €40m on the table for a physically strong centre-forward who can provide guarantees.

It might take a little time, but the Bergamo club is already taking steps to secure Mateta.
