The Transfers Podcast can reveal that Cole Palmer is indeed unsettled at Chelsea and that his representatives have offered him to various clubs amid persistent links with Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has frequently been in the news since FootballTransfers revealed on 9 January that Man Utd hold an interest in securing his services. At the time, sources informed us that Palmer would be open to leaving Chelsea.

Since then, speculation over the future of the England star has abounded. It has been widely reported that Palmer is unsettled at Chelsea and that he is keen to return to the Northwest.

Chelsea have attempted to diffuse the situation by insisting that Palmer is “untouchable” and happy at the club. New head coach Liam Rosenior has repeatedly declared that the attacking midfielder features prominently in his long-term plans.

However, speaking on the latest episode of The Transfers Podcast, insider Duncan Castles revealed that there is indeed smoke to this fire. Palmer is not happy with his situation at Chelsea due to the quick rise to prominence of summer signing Estevao.

Palmer wants to be Chelsea’s main man

Although Palmer was one of the first Chelsea players to welcome the Brazilian wonderkid with open arms, there is now a major concern that Estevao will replace him as the face of the club.

Palmer is an ambitious character and, given his exploits in the early stages of his Chelsea career, believes that he should be the main creative force at the club. However, while the 23-year-old has spent much of the season struggling with injury, Estevao has hit like a bomb since joining.

As a result, Palmer is considering his future, although this does not mean that an exit is guaranteed at this stage. It is instructive, though, that his representatives have already begun offering him to suitors to gauge the level of interest in securing his services.

“There is truth to Cole Palmer being unsettled in his position at Chelsea,” Castles explained on The Transfers Podcast. “I talked to a couple of sports directors. One in particular, I asked him, ‘Have you been offered Cole Palmer?’ His answer was, ‘Everyone has been offered Cole Palmer!’

“His understanding of the situation was that Palmer is not happy that he is no longer necessarily the central creative force in the Chelsea squad because of Estevao’s arrival from Brazil, because of Estevao’s initial impact at Chelsea.

“He wants to be reassured that he is the most important creative force there. And that has resulted, it seems, in his representatives going around the elite clubs of Europe and indicating to them that Palmer could be interested in a move and asking whether they would be interested in taking him.

“Now, that doesn’t mean that Palmer will leave Chelsea in the summer window, certainly not in the January window. But it does mean that we can expect some movement there, and it does mean that he is certainly trying to create some leverage in his discussions with Chelsea, in his apparent desire to be reinstated as that key figure he was at Chelsea before Estevao arrived.”

You can watch the video below for the full discussion on Palmer’s future and other interesting topics, such as Ousmane Dembele’s contract talks with PSG, the scramble for strikers in the final days of the window and the Saudi Pro League’s changing approach to the transfer market.
