Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers appears to be laying the groundwork for a big summer transfer, with Manchester United interested in the midfielder.
Rogers has been one of the standout performers in what has been an exceptional season for Villa, with the 23-year-old delivering eight goals and five assists across 27 Premier League outings for Unai Emery’s side.
FootballTransfers can confirm that the 12-cap England star is in the process of changing agency ahead of the summer window, suggesting that he is preparing himself for a big move.
Rogers in agency change
Rogers’ family are in talks with CAA Base over a potential change of representation amid rumours linking him with a switch to Man Utd.
The Villa star is presently with Footwork but is in talks with the more established agency, which also represents his close friend Cole Palmer as well as a number of other leading Premier League stars such as Eberechi Eze and Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu.
Morgan Rogers part of Man Utd’s dream summer shortlist
Rogers, meanwhile, is high on Man Utd’s transfer shortlist ahead of the summer as they plan a dramatic midfield overhaul.
In their ideal scenario, they will pair Rogers with Elliott Anderson, who they intend to sign from Nottingham Forest.
Clearly, this will be no easy task.
Both Villa and Forest have set asking prices around €115 million (£100m) for their England midfield stars, so while United’s dream may be to sign both, signing even one promises to be an expensive undertaking.
Chelsea also targeting Rogers
Rogers, who Villa desperately want to retain, will have other options.
Chelsea have long been associated with a move for the former Manchester City and Middlesbrough player and will hope to use Palmer as leverage to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
FootballTransfers’ information, though, is that Man Utd are eager to sign the star, who in turn is set to pressurise his current employers to agree a transfer via new representatives.
