Strasbourg have reached an agreement to re-sign Mamadou Sarr on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from their sister club Strasbourg for a fee of €14m million in June, but he will immediately return to France for the duration of the 2025-26 campaign.
That is according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “EXCL: Strasbourg agree deal to sign Mamadou Sarr on loan from Chelsea, the defender is back to the club.
“After signing [an] 8 year deal at CFC, Sarr returns to Strasbourg on loan as [a] key part of Rosenior plans for [the] upcoming season with top 5 ambitions in Ligue 1. Here we go.”
Sarr made 28 appearances for Strasbourg last season, following his arrival from Olympique Lyonnais in 2024, and he is likely to play a crucial role at the Ligue 1 side next season.
Fellow Chelsea star Mathis Amouogu has also joined Strasbourg this summer, albeit his move was a permanent one, while Mike Penders and Kendry Paez are expected to secure a loan transfers to the French outfit too.
Chelsea’s summer transfer plans
Chelsea have been extremely active in the transfer market so far this summer, and Sarr will become the latest player to depart Stamford Bridge when his loan move back to Strasbourg is officially confirmed.
Noni Madueke, Djordje Petrovic, Bashir Humphreys, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli, Lucas Bergstrom and the aforementioned Amouogu have all left west London on permanent deals, while Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi and Joao Felix are among the players expected to be sold before the end of the summer transfer window.
On the other hand, Chelsea have already completed seven new signings this summer, with Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo, Sarr and Paez arriving for a combined price of €243.8m.
