Celtic have received a worrying update from Fabrizio Romano as Norwich City are stepping up their pursuit of Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh.

The former Denmark youth international has emerged as a priority target for the Hoops following his stunning exploits against Man City in the Champions League. Hogh netted a brace as Bodo/Glimt romped to a famous 3-1 victory over the Premier League giants.

The 25-year-old has been a brilliant servant to the Norwegian side, scoring a very impressive 42 goals in 82 games. His goals against City appear to have convinced clubs that he is worth taking a chance on.

Celtic and Norwich City have both opened talks over a deal for the striker, and it is the Championship side who appear to be the more determined of the two. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Canaries have made a sizeable €8 million bid for Hogh.

Norwich are scrambling to bring in a new centre-forward due to the ongoing drama surrounding star striker Josh Sargent. The American has been removed from the first team because he is pushing for a move to MLS side Toronto FC, but the Canadians have yet to match Norwich’s asking price.

Celtic face Hogh threat

Even without Sargent, Norwich have been resurgent under former Rangers boss Philippe Clement. A 2-1 win over league leaders Coventry has lifted the Canaries to 18th in the Championship, and fears of relegation have been banished for now.

Celtic may be a more attractive destination as they are in a title race and regularly play in Europe, but it remains to be seen if the Hoops are willing to enter a bidding war with Norwich, who will be armed with as much as €20m should they cash in on Sargent.

The Parkhead outfit may therefore have to focus on different targets, although the loan signing of Tomas Cvancara has somewhat alleviated the urgent need for a new striker. The Czech showed promise on his debut against Premiership leaders Hearts.

Chelsea outcast David Datro Fofana is a player who continues to be linked with a switch to Glasgow, having already been chased by Celtic in the summer. The Blues are desperate to offload the Ivorian permanently before next week’s deadline. Compared to Hogh, he may be more attainable.
