Fans have claimed that Cole Palmer should ‘swap salaries’ with Raheem Sterling after discovering the former’s weekly wage at Chelsea

Palmer has been one of the standout players in the Premier League season and sits joint-top of the goalscoring charts after 20 goals from 28 appearances for the Blues.

No one could’ve predicted just how well the former Manchester City star would have settled in west London – perhaps not even Palmer himself!

It’s been revealed that the 21-year-old signed an £80,000-a-week contract at Stamford Bridge after completing a £42.5million move from rivals City.

To the ordinary fan, that may seem a lot, however it’s now been pointed out how Palmer’s salary is dwarfed considerably by a number of his Chelsea team-mates.

Supporters on X pointed out how Malang Sarr, who has made just 21 appearances since joining the Blues in 2021, earns £120,000 – before questioning why that was.

One fan wrote: ‘Did you guys know Malang Sarr has a weekly wage of £120k per week at Chelsea. How did I just find out about this now? And why does he make more money than Cole Palmer, Thiago Silva, Gallagher, Disasi, etc?’

Another wrote: ‘INCASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW: Malang Sarr earns a weekly wage of £120,000 at Chelsea. (He doesn’t have a kit no) Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer have a combined weekly wage of £125,000 at Chelsea.’

Meanwhile, some fans quickly pointed out that Raheem Sterling – who joined from Man City in 2022 – also earns more than Palmer.

‘They should be letting him swap salaries with Sterling’, one fan said.

Another user wrote: ‘Divide that of Sterling’s for him.’

Sterling has had a less than impressive campaign for the Blues, having scored just six goals from his 27 Premier League appearances this term.

While Palmer may only be on £80,000 for now, reports have claimed the youngster is in line for a major wage boost, after his stunning performances this year.

Although Palmer signed a seven-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, The Daily Telegraph report he will be offered a significant increase on his current £80,000-a-week salary.

They say that while no talks over the improved deal have started – or are imminent – there is already an acknowledgement within Stamford Bridge that Palmer deserves better terms.

His first 42 games for Chelsea have yielded 25 goals and 13 assists across all competitions, with Palmer rewarded with a senior England debut back in November.
